Musical Expertise & Ability
The chapters, which discussed musical expertise were very interesting. I found that the references at the end of these chapters provided a wealth of knowledge to supplement the material discussed.
In general, musical expertise has been found to be produced when an individual spends over 10,000 hours practicing in an area whether it is music, chess, and/or sports. Sloboda discussed jazz musicians and musical savant individuals. I found the information about the autistic savants very interesting.
