Essen Associative Code: A code for Folksong Analysis
THe Essen Associative Code, also known as EsAC, was developed for folk-music researching of monophonic music in Europe, Asia, and the Americans.
The uses for the EsAc include searching, analysis, and representation.
The database was developed by Prof. Dr. Schaffrath.
A useful data interchanges include DARMS, Kern, midi, mtex, score, and themefinder.
The Essen database contains many different musical examples, which have been written into the database in such a way that the musical phrases follow the rules of Lerdhal and Jackendoff.
